Introduction to Satellite Image Processing and Analysis with Google Earth Engine
Minicourse slides (in Portuguese) introducing geoinformation and the Google Earth Engine JavaScript API.
Abstract
A hands-on introduction to cloud-based processing of satellite imagery with Google Earth Engine (GEE). The slides (in Portuguese, 115 pages) start from the basics of geoinformation and its representation, and then go through the GEE Data Catalog and Code Editor, the main objects and operations of the JavaScript API, geometries, Feature and FeatureCollection, and Image and ImageCollection. The examples include a vegetation index (NDVI) for the municipality of São Luís, a MODIS land-cover map of the Legal Amazon, and exporting an image to Google Drive and opening it in QGIS.

Note
These slides are kept as a record of the minicourse. The code uses Earth Engine collections that have since been deprecated or replaced (for example Landsat Collection 1) and assets from a private account, so it may not run as written. The maintained and updated version of this material is the open textbook Introdução ao Geoprocessamento e Sensoriamento Remoto (in Portuguese), which covers GEE together with PostGIS and QGIS.
